What do our literacy centers do?
- Provide Essential Resources: In regions where schools are overcrowded—with class sizes averaging 80 students—our literacy centers fill critical gaps by offering books, learning materials, and safe spaces for academic growth.
- Teach Reading and Writing in English: Starting in Grade 4, Zambian children are required to learn and study in English. Our 22 trained reading assistants work closely with students to build foundational skills in reading and writing, ensuring they are prepared for this transition.
- Foster a Love for Reading: Beyond academics, our centers inspire a passion for books and storytelling, encouraging children to dream big and explore new worlds through literacy.
Transforming communities through education:
The impact of these centers is profound. Schools with Africa Hope Fund literacy centers are now ranked among the top-performing schools in their districts—a powerful testament to how literacy transforms educational outcomes. By breaking down barriers to learning, we’re not just teaching children how to read; we’re helping them break the cycle of poverty and unlock their full potential.
Making a difference every day:
Today, our six literacy centers serve over 2,500 children weekly, providing opportunities that many would not otherwise have. Success stories from these programs highlight their transformative power—children who once struggled academically are now thriving thanks to the support and resources provided by our centers.
Casual attire or safari wear are encouraged!
We cant wait to see you there!
Sincerely,
The AHF team
